David Betzer is an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God Church. Prior to coming to Branson, David and his wife, Janis, served as missionaries in Southern Africa for 16 years. They have been involved in many different ministries in Southern Africa. Prior to serving as a missionary, David and Janis served in church ministries here in the USA. The Betzers have been married for 30 years. They have 4 children. David was raised in a wonderful Christian home by Rev. Dan & Darlene Betzer. David’s family spent most of their time in the Assemblies of God Church, but they also spent time in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, working with a Methodist Evangelist and attending the Christian Church. David’s primary ministerial influence has been his father, Dan Betzer. Dan Betzer currently pastors First Assembly of God in Fort Myers, Florida. David lived in many places growing up, primarily in Ohio, but also in Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Pennsylvania. Most of his formative years were spent on the shores of Lake Erie in Northern Ohio. At a young age David felt a call to ministry. David also felt that he would spend some of his life on the mission field in Africa. David and his family are very musical, so his first ventures into ministry were in the music area. An opportunity came following David’s first year of college to travel with a musical evangelism team called “Living Sound” in South Africa. This focused his attention on the “missionary call” on his life. David met his wife, Janis, in Bible College and they married a year after graduation. They went into Youth Ministry immediately after getting married and worked with youth for 6 years. In preparation for the Mission Field, the Betzer’s were asked to serve in a Senior Pastor position for at least two years. They spent those two years in Muscatine, Iowa, on the shore of the mighty Mississippi. They enjoyed those couple of years and knew that pastoring was part of God’s call on their lives. Following those two years of ministry David and Janis proceeded to follow the call to South Africa. They served the wonderful people of South Africa for 16 years. David and Janis received the call to serve as pastors in Branson in the summer of 2010. They feel privileged to serve the people of Grace Community Assembly and the greater Branson area.
